In response to California ISO’s grid resilience initiative, this is one of the first-of-its-kind projects to retrofit two existing natural gas plants with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This innovative approach aims to provide crucial black start capability, enhancing grid stability and rapid power restoration during outages.
